The smell of babies is as addictive as the drug

For a mother there is no feeling more pleasant than feeling the smell of her baby. It is so intense that I had to have a scientific explanation, and it has it. A study has shown that the smell of babies is as addictive as the drug, because it activates the neurological system in mothers, specifically the part of the brain where desire lies.

When a woman is near a baby and feels her smell, a natural biological reaction is generated, linked to maternal functions, even when that woman is not the mother.

The study has been carried out by Dr. Johannes Frasnelli of the University of Montreal, who studied two groups of 15 women, one of recent mothers and the other of women without children. The reactions suffered by their brains when in contact with newborn pajamas were measured.

They could show that by feeling the smell of a baby the same mechanisms are activated that are activated when an addict uses drugs or when a very hungry person eats.

That peculiar smell that newborns have has its reason. It fulfills the function of establishing a chemical relationship with his mother, as a kind of caller that generates in the mother's brain a biological need to provide protection and nourishment for her offspring.

Just like looks and voice, body odor (of both) is one more way of connection Between the mother and her baby.

It is increasingly evident our condition of mammals, how we come naturally programmed to have behaviors of love and protection towards our children, even when it is intended to rationalize with parenting methods or distract with gadgets, it is clear that motherhood responds to instinct.

The funny thing is that in addition to the smell of the baby the same need is experienced as someone hooked on drugs: you always want more.
