How to make a small boat for your children to play or decorate their room

Do not imagine the surprise I had to discover these summer jars with boat included I've found in Charlotte Handmade. They remind me of a craft that many years ago we also made in glass containers, and recreated a seabed.

She has been the collaborator of Carlotte's blog, Sybille Roessler, responsible for a creative contribution that is easy to make, which will perfectly occupy one of those summer afternoons that we still have to enjoy for children.

We need:

Kraft paper (preferably colored), toothpicks, four cork stoppers, cotton sewing thread or very fine cord.

How to make the boats?

With three caps the base of the boat is made, in this way we make sure that it floats, then we roll thread horizontally to hold them. We also hold the horizontal thread through knots made in the space between plugs.

And finally we tie the two boats with another piece of thread held by the ends with half toothpicks

We cut a piece of the fourth plug, which can serve as a lifeboat. We cut candles so that triangular pieces of paper remain and we skewer them in toothpicks, which we will then drive into the boat. We repeat this operation by making a smaller sail for the boat.

Once the boat is finished, we fill a large glass jar with water and introduce stones, shells, beach sand… in the background. The ship will float, and even if it has no space to navigate, there will be a beautiful craft to decorate the children's room, or for them to give to their friends.
