Madrid Zoo Aquarium dismisses its giant panda pups with a great official act

Po and De-De, the young pair of Panda bear from the Madrid Zoo They have grown older and they have to become independent. morning Saturday, May 11, at 11:00 a.m. An official call will be made at the Zoo Aquarium in Madrid to say goodbye to the giant panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca), Po and De De, with a great celebration that will open the traditional Chinese Dragon dance as a prelude to good luck that will accompany the panda twins on their trip to the Chengdu reserve, next May 17.

The two brothers, born on September 7, 2010, they will fly to the base of giant panda bears from Chengdu, following the ex situ conservation program of this species in serious danger of extinction that Zoo Aquarium of Madrid, belonging to the Parques Reunidos Group, carries out in collaboration with the Association of Zoological Parks of China and whose main objective is the breeding and conservation of one of the most threatened species on the planet. From now on, his parents, Hua Zui Ba and Bing Xing will again become the official panda couple of the Madrid Zoo.

In the farewell ceremony will be the Chinese ambassador, Zhu Bangzao, and the director of the Madrid Aquarium Zoo, Ricardo Esteban, in addition to the House of China, the Cultural Center of China in Madrid, ANDENI and AdopChina.

In the event the traditional Dragon Dance will be performed accompanied by the oriental percussion of gongs, cymbals and drums that will mark the beginning of a new year for Po and De De In his new home. Through the movements of this mythological animal, a tour of oriental dance will begin to the panda prairie that is crossed by a children's human chain as a symbol of the path of Po and De De on their journey to the Great Wall.

After the arrival of the dragon to the pagoda, the caretakers of the Zoo Aquarium in Madrid will proceed to the placement of symbolic gifts and a large frozen bamboo cake. The official departure of the panda brothers will occur immediately afterwards to enjoy this farewell banquet.

The gold brooch will be put by a group of children who will proceed to the symbolic release of giant black and white balloons simulating the flight to Chengdu de Po and De De, next May 17.

From 12 noon, Zoo Aquarium in Madrid will invite the public to participate in the Panda workshops in collaboration with the House of China that will be installed in the Plaza de Chulin, until 14:00. In addition, visitors can sign in the official farewell book that will be installed next to the sculpture of Chulin, guarded by the House of China.

From the Madrid Zoo they explain that Po and De De leave because the ex situ conservation program carried out in the Zoo is of vital importance for the survival of this classified species, according to IUCN, in serious danger of extinction. And in its natural habitat there are only 1,600 copies and, in Europe, can only be seen in the Zoos of Vienna, Beauval, Edinburgh and Zoo Aquarium of Madrid. Of the ten pandas currently in these parks, four of them are in Madrid.

In addition, from the Zoo Aquarium Madrid they inform us that there will be workshops for children: the giant game of panda to panda, face painting, panda crafts and workshops Casa de China: Chinese calligraphy, origami.
