Do you already know what kind of artist your son will be?

Gabriel García Márquez says that each child carries within himself an artist, and it will depend on your environment that in the end take out that artist or not. Parents, "clueless", and teachers, "tired", often do not realize that potential artist, that gift that every child has.

The key to discover them is to let them choose their games, because in the same way that if we leave a lot of books at their fingertips, in the end they will stay with the one they like best, so they will do with the games. That they have all kinds of toys, that we offer them different entertainments, to see how they keep one or the other.

Let us free your creativity, that we do not force them to do what they do not like, be it a game, a sport, a painting, an instrument… Forcing them to dedicate their time to something they dislike is killing their gift, killing that artist inside. How many great readers will have been lost because of mandatory readings that are not adequate?

Very few children will continue to cultivate their hobby if the environment is against. Some will do it secretly while they grow and when they grow up, but they will be the minority. Most of those children who were not allowed to draw their art will join the large group of ordinary people. It may be the school that unifies them, they may be their parents (and García Márquez talks about "the advantages of not obeying parents"), or work later ...

Art education is a social function, and the enjoyment of the arts and letters should flood our environment, not just in schools. And we know that this does not happen.

That is why we must be attentive to all the signs. You know, our children could be great artists: cooks, writers, painters, sculptors, scientists, musicians ... we just don't know it yet, nor do they know it. Although we can intuit it, and also look for it ...

Do not wait for vocations to arrive: you have to go looking for them. They are everywhere, purer the more forgotten. They are the ones that sustain the eternal life of street music, the primitive painting of brush and sapolín in the municipal palaces, the poetry in living meat of the cantinas, the unstoppable torrent of popular culture that is the father and mother of all the arts (Gabriel García Márquez)
