Children also play with babies

Browsing the internet sometimes you find images as amazing as this, which invites reflection. Surprising, maybe because toy advertising doesn't let us see scenes of this kind, but children also play with babies.

Carrying a baby in a cart or in a baby carrier, playing with kitchens or with mecanos does not have to be limited to one sex. Boys and girls can enjoy these games equally, and there is also the standardization component that is given to the act they represent in their game (girls who build, children who cook or take care of their babies).

The three children in the photograph (who may be more or less prepared) are so calm with their baby dolls in a foulard while they watch and caress them, probably while listening to a story or seeing a book. Nice image, which indeed seems strange, extraordinary.

The education of our children should eliminate sexism and take care of the transmission of sexist values, gender stereotypes that, often unconsciously, due to the weight of tradition and custom, we pass on. Other factors influence that perpetuation.

Many advertisements transmit sexist models (of toys, and of any product), and they often sell us toys for boys and toys for girls, different toys. That is why we usually see girls playing with baby dolls in magazines, on television ... but we see few children doing the same.

We also see more women than men taking care of their children in this type of media, which seems to convey the following message: "It is normal for them to do so." But in school we see many parents who pick up their children, play with them, cook them, change them, bathe them ... and they also want to reconcile (and we all want to know how they do it).

I would like to think that Photography children playing with babies they will be affectionate adults with their children, who will have no qualms about carrying them or carrying them in their arms, nor buying dolls and dolls for them to play. Because, they will see it as natural.
