SpermCheck Fertility, home fertility test for men

Scientists from the University of Virginia, United States, have developed SpermCheck Fertility, a homemade fertility test for men That checks the sperm count to determine if it is normal or not.

Since the man has his share of responsibility in the conception of a baby, the test is aimed at couples who are looking for a pregnancy for several months without result, and as a previous step to the consultation with a specialist.

Studies with SpermCheck Fertility and 225 semen samples have found a accuracy greater than 95 percent.

The operation is very similar to a home pregnancy test, but obviously it is done with a semen sample. Just two drops are needed and the results are achieved in less than 10 minutes.

WHO considers a sperm count of 20 million semen per milliliter or more normal. If the sperm count reaches this level, the man is "fertile", if it is between 2 and 20 million per millimeter it is considered "subfertile" (oligoespermia), and if it is below 2 million per millimeter it is considered "Infertile" (azoospermia).

The test allows to detect the level of fertility in man by determining if it reaches 20 million semen per millimeter or if the concentration is below 5 million per millimeter.

The team of experts who have developed the test has managed to detect an antigen that is on the surface of the head of a sperm cell called SP-10.

SpermCheck Fertility, marketed by ContraVac, it is estimated that it will cost in the United States about 25 dollars (18 euros to the change), previous authorization of the FDA, and it is anticipated that soon it will be sold in Europe.

Many men will wait anxiously because it is an intimate, simple and quick way to confirm if there could be an infertility problem to take action from there.
