More hospitals in favor of humanized childbirth

This is one of the news that since I started the blog I am waiting to give. More and more in Spain (and hopefully it extends beyond), the centers that are choosing to implement non-medicalized delivery.

To the clinic La Milagrosa, which prepared special rooms to give birth at home and to the Quirón Hospital in Madrid, new centers are added every day that favor a more natural birth, a humanized scientific birth.

A reader announced to us that also the Hospital Santa Caterina de Salt, in Girona are very supportive of this mode of delivery.

These days the news reports that in Andalusia there are eight public hospitals that will begin to provide more humanized care in the first phase.

They propose more comfortable environments to give birth, promote breastfeeding by breastfeeding in the delivery room, the naturalization of childbirth, so that mothers can choose the position in which they want to have their children, so that the epidural does not apply “by decree ”Are some of the changes we are seeing coming.

In addition, parents may have a more active participation in childbirth, get involved, wash the baby ... that their role is not just to watch.

The centers that already work the naturalization of childbirth are the hospitals of Huércal-Overa and Poniente (Almería); Santa Ana de Motril (Granada); Punta de Europa of Algeciras and Puerto Real (Cádiz); Pozoblanco (Córdoba); and Ronda and Costa del Sol in Marbella (Málaga).

Little by little, it will be extended to the rest of the hospitals in the Andalusian community, as well as to other hospitals in the Spanish geography, fortunately.

As I said at the beginning, I'm glad to know that things are changing; that childbirth is ceasing to be treated in hospitals as one more intervention to become scientific assistance to a natural physiological process.
