They are called Pablo, Álvaro and Maikel and They have just returned home with the champions trophy after winning the 2018 World Mental Calculation Championship this Sunday, in their respective categories according to their age.
Pablo and Álvaro Quintanero are brothers and they attended first and third grade of Primary at the Virgen de la Caridad school in Illescas (Toledo). Maikel Amores has finished fifth of Primary in the CEIP Cervantes de Castellón. All three study with the ALOHA Mental Arithmetic method and have had to compete in Moscow with more than 600 students between five and thirteen, from 16 countries around the world.
A very Spanish medal winners
30 children from all over Spain have participated in the test and their results have been magnificent. In addition to the three golds, they have achieved three other silvers, six bronzes and several honorable mentions.
And what did they have to do? Overcome with the least number of errors 70 mathematical calculations in just five minutes. And these three privileged minds, Pablo, Álvaro and Maikel, have been able to perform the 70 calculations without any mistakes!
Math training
Aloha Mental Arithmetic, organizer of the World Championship, is an educational program that has the backing of the Spanish Society of Pedagogy. With a worldwide presence, it trains children from five to thirteen in intellectual abilities such as calculation skills, attention, concentration, photographic memory, creativity and spatial orientation.
